Six Feet Under (2001-2005): “..I didn’t really know what I was going to do with my life..”

Six Feet Under

“A series that I like a lot is Six Feet Under (2001-2005), which is about a family that runs an independent funeral home. But also about their lives and their problems. It sounds vague telling it like this, but I was impressed with the character Claire Fisher played by Lauren Ambrose. Because I can identify with her struggle of being a young confused girl who doesn’t really know what she wants in life, but she ends up finding her place and she becomes an artist. I moved to Amsterdam four years ago from Mainz, Germany and back then I didn’t really know what I was going to do with my life. I first was an au pair in Amsterdam. I met my boyfriend here and I began my studies after being an au pair for a year and everything with my studies went completely wrong. I didn’t get good grades for my exams. I couldn’t find a place to live and besides that there was a lot more going on in my life. So it really wasn’t what I had imagined when I decided to move and start a new life in Amsterdam. I think eventually you take all the issues of not knowing what you want in life with you even when you move. Thinking that it will all be better in the new town that I am going to live in, but that wasn’t true. I still love it in Amsterdam and eventually I found a place to live. I changed my studies to psychology and I’m super happy with it. It took four years before I could kind of find my place here, but I still need to continue my search in finding who I truly want to be. It would definitely be cool to get that same ending that Claire has gotten. Just not as an artist, but as whatever I’ll end up becoming.”
