The Hateful Eight (2015): “..My mood is represented by Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack..”

The Hateful Eight

“I always associate life situations not per se with films, but rather with the music or the soundtracks in films. My mood at the moment is best represented by Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack from the movie The Hateful Eight (2015) because I am going through a break-up right now and I just traveled all the way from Rotterdam to Amsterdam to visit my friend. I walked all the way from the train station to her house with the soundtrack like some kind of playlist in my head. It’s so cold and it took me a while to get to her place. You could almost compare it to how the characters in Hateful 8 had to walk through the snow with the horses. Just like that, I had to face some challenges. It’s been a difficult road already and guess what? She isn’t home. She is twenty minutes late now. I am not saying that I am on the road of vengeance. I am not locked up in a cabin stopover after a crazy blizzard like the characters experienced in the film, but I am just in this weird mood. As if something weird might happen. That’s why I have the soundtrack in my head. All the Tarantino films have such great music, but the music from this film I like the most and to think that the composer Morricone is 90 years old.”
